Light weight high modulus fiber ropes such as Technora, Vectran, and Dyneema have been proven to be cost effective replacements for wire ropes in towing seismic equipment. Reduced weights, improved winch efficiencies, less vibration or strumming, onboard splicing and ease of handling are all benefits of using these synthetic ropes compared to wire.

Lower incidents of work related back injuries, reduced injuries due to broken wires or fishhooks and the elimination of environmentally hazardous lubrication required for wire rope are all advantages provided for in the use of these high performance lines.
